Your Questions, Answered

Whether you are considering a career transition, navigating burnout, or looking to grow as a leader, coaching can offer space to think clearly and move forward with confidence. Below are answers to some of the questions clients often ask before starting their coaching journey.

Below are some of the questions I most frequently hear from clients.

  • Coaching is a structured conversation designed to help you think more clearly, explore possibilities, and move forward with intention.

Rather than giving instructions or telling you what to do, coaching creates space to:

    • clarify what matters most to you

    • explore challenges or decisions from new perspectives

    • question assumptions that may be holding you back

    • translate insights into meaningful action

People often come to coaching when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or at a crossroads in their career or life.

  • These approaches serve different purposes, and understanding the distinction can help clarify what coaching is — and what it is not.

    • Mentoring usually involves guidance from someone who has walked a similar professional path. A mentor may share experience, advice, or practical suggestions based on what has worked for them.

    • Consulting focuses on providing expertise and recommendations. A consultant typically analyses a situation and proposes solutions or strategies.

    • Therapy focuses primarily on emotional healing and psychological wellbeing. It often explores past experiences and patterns that may influence how someone feels or behaves today.

    • Coaching, by contrast, is centred on the present and the future. It is a reflective partnership designed to help you think more clearly, clarify what matters most, and move towards the direction you want to create in your career or life.

Rather than telling you what to do, a coach helps you explore your own thinking more deeply.

For this reason, coaching is not primarily about giving advice. My role is not to provide ready-made answers, but to help you uncover insights that feel meaningful and sustainable for you.

At times I may share questions, tools, or frameworks that support reflection and decision-making. These are offered as prompts to deepen the conversation rather than instructions to follow.

The aim of coaching is to help you access your own clarity, judgement, and perspective — so that the decisions you make genuinely belong to you.

  • Most of my clients are:

    • Professionals in high-pressure industries such as finance, consulting, or technology
    • Leaders navigating team dynamics or organisational change
    • Women navigating career transitions, motherhood, or burnout recovery
    • Professionals exploring career pivots or entrepreneurship

Many clients have already built successful careers but reach a point where something no longer feels aligned.

Coaching provides the space to pause, reflect, and redesign what comes next.

  • Yes. Coaching can help professionals reflect on the root causes of burnout, redefine priorities, and design a more sustainable way of working.

Many clients come to coaching feeling overwhelmed or disconnected from their work. Together we explore what has led to that point and how to rebuild energy, clarity, and balance without sacrificing ambition.

  • Some common signs include:

    • Feeling stuck in your career
    • Losing motivation or confidence
    • Facing an important transition or decision
    • Wanting to grow as a leader
    • Feeling successful externally but unfulfilled internally

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting coaching. Often clarity emerges through the coaching process itself.

  • Coaching sessions usually last between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the programme.

Sessions are most often held online, though they can also take place face-to-face when possible.

Each session begins with what feels most important for you at that moment. From there we explore the situation through reflection, thoughtful questioning, and conversation.

    Coaching may involve:

    • Clarifying priorities and values

    • Examining patterns in how you approach challenges

    • Exploring new perspectives or options

    • Identifying practical next steps

The process is collaborative and tailored to each individual.

  • Yes.

While many coaching sessions take place online, I also run in-person workshops, events, and retreats.

I am always happy to meet clients face-to-face in London, and occasionally in other major cities when I travel internationally.

Many clients appreciate combining online coaching with occasional in-person conversations or group events.

  • Each session is a structured conversation designed to help you think more clearly and move forward.

    Sessions may include:

    • reflective questions that uncover patterns in thinking
    • strategic exploration of options and decisions
    • visualisation or journalling exercises
    • identifying actions or experiments between sessions

Many clients describe coaching as a rare space to think deeply without interruption.

  • Sometimes. I may share tools, frameworks, or reflections that help structure the conversation. These are offered as prompts for exploration rather than instructions.

Between sessions you may wish to explore reflections, small experiments, or practical actions that arise during coaching.

These are not formal assignments. They are simply opportunities to continue the learning and awareness that develops during the conversation.

Often the most important insights appear in everyday life between sessions.

  • This depends on your goals.

    Common formats include:

Single breakthrough sessions for clarity on a specific challenge
3–6 month programmes for career transitions or leadership development
Longer partnerships for ongoing leadership growth

Most sessions take place every two to four weeks, allowing time to integrate insights between conversations.

  • No preparation is required.

However, many clients find it helpful to pause briefly before the session and reflect on what has been on their mind recently.

Often the most valuable starting point is simply a question or situation that has been occupying your thoughts.

  • Pricing depends on the format and scope of coaching.

    Options include:

    • Individual coaching programmes

    • Leadership programmes for organisations

    • Workshops and speaking engagements

The best way to explore pricing is during a discovery call, where we can discuss your goals and design the most suitable approach.

  • Progress in coaching often appears in subtle but powerful ways.

Clients frequently notice that their thinking becomes clearer. Decisions that once felt overwhelming become easier to navigate. Situations that previously triggered stress feel more manageable.

Over time, many people also notice shifts in confidence, perspective, and leadership presence.

  • Every coaching journey is unique, but clients often describe outcomes such as:

    • Gaining clarity on major career decisions

    • Rebuilding confidence after burnout or life transitions

    • Developing a more authentic leadership style

    • Feeling calmer and more grounded in demanding environments

    • Setting healthier boundaries and improving work-life balance

Some clients have gone on to change careers, relocate internationally, launch businesses, secure promotions, complete triathlons, or rebuild their confidence after burnout.

Others simply describe feeling more aligned with who they are and what matters most to them.

Clients frequently highlight the combination of professional coaching methodology and genuine empathy as a key part of the transformation they experience.

  • Before becoming a coach, I spent more than 15 years working in international investment banking, including leadership roles at director level in global financial institutions.

This experience gave me a deep understanding of the pressures and complexities professionals face in high-performance environments.

Today my work combines that experience with professional coach training and a passion for helping individuals navigate career transitions, leadership challenges, and personal growth

  • Clients often highlight three aspects of my work:

    Real-world leadership experience
I spent over 15 years working in international banking at director level.

    A holistic perspective
My approach integrates career strategy, mindset, and wellbeing.

    A deeply human coaching style
Clients often say they feel both challenged and supported, creating the conditions for meaningful change.

  • Yes. My coaching practice follows the ethical standards established by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

The ICF Code of Ethics sets clear expectations around:

    • Confidentiality

    • Professional boundaries

These standards ensure that coaching takes place in a professional, respectful, and trustworthy environment.

  • I am an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation.

    This credential requires:

    • Accredited training

    • Verified coaching hours

    • Mentor coaching

    • Assessment against ICF coaching competencies

    • Ongoing professional development.

  • I completed my Level 2 Professional Coach Training with Barefoot Coaching, an ICF-accredited coaching school.

This training prepares coaches to operate at Professional Certified Coach (PCC) standards and focuses on advanced coaching competencies, ethical practice, and reflective learning.

I have also completed group coaching training, enabling me to work with organisations through team and group coaching programmes.

In addition, I am certified by the Leadership Pipeline Institute to deliver leadership development programmes such as Leader of Others for international organisations.

Alongside my coaching work, I also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Matwork Pilates, the industry-standard qualification for professional Pilates instruction in the UK.

  • Professional coaching requires continuous learning.

To maintain my ICF credential, I regularly complete Continuing Coach Education (CCE) and engage in professional supervision and reflective practice.

ICF credential renewal requires 40 hours of ongoing coach education every three years, including ethics and coaching competencies.

  • A discovery call is a 30-minute introductory conversation where we explore whether coaching could support you.

During the call we typically discuss:

    • What is currently on your mind

    • Challenge or transition you are navigating

    • What you hope coaching might help you achieve

    • My approach and way of working

You can also ask any questions about the coaching process.

There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

  • The first step is to book a discovery call through the website.

If we both feel coaching would be helpful, we can then design a coaching journey that supports your goals and priorities.
